About
Composer, digital artist and craft designer, Winifred Yuan Liang refuses to be defined or confined by any single title. She believes that true art works in all facets and evoke many sensations. Therefore, she aims to create a multi-media scape that tells stories of other worlds and connect people beyond words.

Self-described as a “migratory bird”, Winifred has lived in many different environments and had a rich acquaintance with diverse culture backgrounds. Born in Nanchang, China, she gained an early interest of art, and wrote her first song and comic story at the age of 7. But when she self-learned seven instruments and programed her first multi-media piece “The Forest” in 2014, she really got the craze for music pumping. While studying in Singapore, she played in both sting ensemble and Chinese orchestra, gaining experience of Western classical music, Asian traditions as well as experimental music. Tasted the joy of music-creating, she decided to get more serious and applied to Bachelor of composition at Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University.
At the same time, she works as a self-taught visual artist. She constantly creates works for musical, game and therapy projects for autism. Her artwork has been on sale in Shanghai Comicup 28 exhibition in 2021. Besides, she makes splendid papercraft templates by 3D modeling on Blender.
While currently studying in Peabody, Winifred continues to experiment new possibilities to connect different art forms and people with different culture backgrounds. In 2021 she wrote Ocean Waves for the Omnibus Ensemble, inspired by a stunning kimono art of waves; future projects would include more multi-media and installations combined with experimental compositions.
